While this is my first freelance writing job, it doesn't mean I'm not prepared for it.
After getting a post-secondary communications degree just a few years ago, I found myself as a copy writer for a local television station in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, which is where I currently reside.
Just a couple years later I was fortunate enough to get my first journalism gig as a local sports reporter for the Wheat City Journal, a weekly newspaper publication in town.
I've covered a wide variety of sports including hockey, baseball, football and basketball. The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings along with the Brandon University teams were my focus.
I was appointed editor of the publication in the summer of 2009, all the while, continuing to bring the local community great sports coverage.
I moved on to become the sports reporter for the sports website myWestman.ca in June 2010.
Although I value my 'news' credibility and work hard at bringing features and stories on people here in the Westman community, I believe my strength will always be sports journalism and I hope to make the jump to the national stage someday.
So without further adieu, I hope you enjoy my national sports takes on a wide variety of subjects.
Enjoy!
